ParticipantHello all,
I had a question about mounting tires, as this will be the first time I attempt this on my own. I see that the sidewalls have arrows, and I want to know if race tires are unidirectional. I can understand my Goodyear AquaTreads or my kart rain tires are unidirectional due to the tread pattern, but what about slicks? Is there an issue with the tire construction, or can I just put them on any way I want?
Hope everyone had a great track series at TTAC. Maybe next year for me!

ParticipantYes, the tires are directional. Before mounting make sure you can have the arrows going in direction of rotation on both sides of the kart. I believe it is in the construction of the tire, making them stronger in one direction or the other.

ParticipantScott,
It may have something to due with “wind up” due to the orientation of the belts.
This video isn’t too bad, there are others,
But it is really all about technique.
