Doug,

Brad,
Others,Question.
If the Stock err, Spec Honda is looking like the future for gearbox karts because of the reliability and the ease of keeping things spec and a reasonable price point then why isn’t the kart manufcturers going to Honda and telling them to take the internals of the stock honda motocross engine and removing the gearbox and using the guts as a TaG engine? Honda’s reliable, widely distributed, fairly cheap and easy to get parts.
Am I missing something here?
Or would it put out of business a lot of karting engine manufacturers?Just curious and wondering.

Your “factory” wouldn’t be raking in $700 for crank assemblies. I’d think the margin and volume would have to be large to justify casting these things.
Also note, the CR internals don’t go much past 12,000 rpm and may have similar to TaG rebuild frequency at higher revs.
I saw some talk on EKN about making a proper karting shifter motor with new cases and Honda parts.
