Hello all,
I need to replace the 3 bearings on the rear axle. Are they “standard issue” available anywhere or do I have to get ARROW specific? How easy to press them out/in?
Thanks

They are very easy to remove. You can’t press them out because they have a spherical outer radius. When you remove the bearing carrier from the kart and loosen the pinch bolt that holds the bearing, you’ll notice there are two notches in the cassette, as you can see here:
Simply rotate the bearing until you can remove it through those notches.

Barry should have them in stock. Also, Shockwave has bearings for this application. Any of the shop’s should have them.
You’ll need to pull the axle, then unbolt the cassettes, remove from the chassis. The bearing should just rotate to a certain position at 90 a degree angle to the cassette where the cassette has a cut out, the bearing should come right out.

The carriers for the Arrow don’t look like the above. They look like this:

Do you have them out yet?
April 7, 2008 at 11:05 pm #61499RotaxOldFartParticipantThere off the axle. But, there is no slot in the cassette like the one mentioned earlier . . .
April 7, 2008 at 11:56 pm #61500Rick SchmidtParticipantWhere do you live?

Arrow cassettes take standard 40mm bearings–no problem. The slots that Jeff and Rick referred to are there, they’re just a bit less obvious than in the Shockwave cassette in Jeff’s post.
The only thing I’d add is that the bearings may not swivel easily in the cassette. If so, insert the axle just a bit into the bearing and use the leverage to get the bearing to begin to move.

April 9, 2008 at 5:15 pm #61503RotaxOldFartParticipantThanks all. I was mistakenly focusing on the slot (at 12 O’clock) in Jeff’s pic, which the Arrow cassette does not have. And I was reading “roate the bearing” as somehow rotating it within the cassette to align some non-existant tabs on the bearing with the slots on the casette.
Joe’s description made me realize I have to “pivot” the bearing out of the casette, then twist it to align with the slots to aid in removing from casette. Using the axle as a tool to pivot the bearing out did the trick.
Thanks again to all of your generous help!
