Angel and family,

There is so little anyone can do but offer thoughts and prayers when someone is fighting this ugly disease. I know you have had great loss in your family and know also our racing family supported me while my Mom was fighting cancer. Given 2 months to live she made it over 5 years and moved on Christmas 5 years ago. In thinking back to our conversations when she was sick, I remember her saying that she believed “where we go from here is not that bad” and “as long as we talk about people they are never gone”

There is plenty of inspiration to be found as well. I have both Lance Armstrong (there may be more than 2?) books that are an inspiration for those around cancer http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.khLXK1PxHmF/b.2660611/k.BCED/Home.htm
is a great resource and support. One of our young local racers, Tyler has been in a major battle with the disease and has been climbing out and winning the fight. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tylerluttrull

We will keep you in the thoughts and prayers in our family an extend any help / support you may need moving forward Angel.

One of our racing friends said to me “it’s like watching Roman race from the fence, you can offer hope but can only watch and pull for them” Pretty much how it went for me.

Hopefully she recovers and lives a full life. That’s what we hope and pray for now.

One thing I did with my Mom and Grandma was to buy a small recorder and have them tell stories of their life in their own words. It is so cool to hear their voice again, let the Grand daughters listen… It is cool to hear them tell stories about their life that would not get lost in translation down the road. It was something I am so glad I did!

If you help, to talk, a hug, to take frustration out in your kart, let me know, we’ll be there.

regards,

The Schmidts
