Don’t miss it if Doug & Greg have a chassis tuning get together at their shop. There are so many small adjustments you can perform to make big differences in consistency and performance. Plus, it’s fun to rub elbows with the other racers as well. A lot of competitors and many other shop owners and team mangers show to share and shoot the breeze as well. There is a lot of information that could be considered “sacred” that is shared amongst the karter’s.
I remember someone telling me to float the seat in Romans kart in certain situations, well I had never heard of it before and it served a purpose quite well, then standing at one of Doug’s tuning seminars he described it in front of “God and everybody” but that’s what’s cool. You still have to go out and test and let your driver feel these things and gain knowledge to understand what the kart is doing.
There may be some of you who have a miss mounted seat, and you know what. It’s never going to work right and the best drivers / tuners around may not be able to overcome it. Can be pretty interesting.
Plus, if you haven’t seen Shockwave, it really is a state of the industry facility worth a good tour.
