Not to 1 up everyone but here at NREL where I work, we just finished 2 new transponder power supplies.
The first one is a solar powered thin film version, it looks and can be used as a number plate while it powers the transponder. Any excess voltage can be routed to the ignition box to boost spark voltage. The down side is it doesn’t work well in the northwest or at night….not sure why 😕
The second choice is our hydrogen fuel cell model. It cost a little more but it has more features, in addition to the ones mentioned above, the by product of its process provides onboard drinking water and the biggest feature is if a competitor gets to close to your rear bumper you can take it off and chuck it at him blowing him off the track…… 😆
What’s the cost of these you ask? 2.3 million each.
