( I know we have the animal for 8 – 12, but in full race trim is too fast for the younger or new kids)

Does a newbie or graduate need a special class to be able to run up front to keep them interested? Or is this more of a parents need? I think the Greeley Tribune article on Taylor, along with ccwogrin’s previous post should sum up how these kids should get thier start.
This is the only racing group I’ve ever been involved with that looks to make special classes for someone to get a podium spot.
Any time you start out new, or graduate up from a class, they have to expect to have some time before they can be competetive.
Our #1 goal in ’05 was just to finish all laps, and we missed that twice. I just wanted her to get race time, to learn how to handle the kart at respectable speed before I strapped on a race trimmed Animal.
I believe it is up to the parent to only allow the kids to run as fast as thier abilities will let them. But it seems around here it is only about getting a podium finish.
Look at CNS, Nextel Cup, NHRA, WoO, IRL, (pick your favorite series). A rookie just moving up from a stepping stone class is not expected to win right away. It’s happened, but it’s very rare. They are expected to run at the back for a while getting used to the equipment/more speed/veteran drivers etc. etc.
I’m also having a hard time understanding why the Jr.1 class that has the most entries for the series is on the chopping block. It is for that reason alone I will purposely skip several CSC events. I don’t beleive in racing at facilities that don’t want me there.
