Drew, the old motors out there (legal ones) are great for practicing. The difference in performance to the Honda is not huge. I know that Brad said he would trade motor for motor if someone buys a new kart with a Comer and wants to trade. I am guessing he might give some trade in value if someone buys a kart with a used one. He mentioned that he does know of some places that will sell the Kid Karts without a motor – if you are in the market, you could check with him.
Like I said, I see the concern on having to purchase another motor. You don’t HAVE to, but most will want to. The way I see it, it is worth it to get this class back to the fun and learning situation that it should be. I think the biggest issue with this idea is that it came from Brad, and was introduced badly. I don’t think that even Brad will argue that point. But, get over it, this could be a great thing – at least try the motor before bashing it.
