I don’t have a kid in the battle. But I do think that if you are teching a set gear ratio, it better go along with a max and min. tire roll out too.
1/2 an inch in circumfrence is a little more than 1 tooth on the rear.
Just a rim width rule wont prevent some people from growing or shrinking their tires for that little advantage that only their kid needs.
You also should mention no skip tooth sprockets along with an inspection of the front sprocket for the number and condition of it’s teeth.
