Spence – What happened to the kart?
The crank bearing failed at the 1st CSC race during qualifying. Worse case senario, but had a full rebuild, so its basically a new motor, and runs much stronger.
You should be recieveing a letter from my lawyer in the next week or so, to cover the rebuild fees….. plus, of course, pain and suffering compensation. 😆 😆 😆
Spencer,
Once again everyone is looking for the “magic bullet” to being fast. Jay Jacobellis and I compared notes all the time at Bandimere (round one) and he and I differed all the time with what Max Jet said. Quite frankly the only thing that will make the zit engine fast is by making adjustments, taking notes and doing A PLUG CHOP! That is how you make the engine run fast. Adjust the airscrew once you’ve warmed up the engine by putting it back on the stand and see how it revs up on the stand (without a bog) Adjust adjust adjust and take plenty of notes. It doesn’t take but a minute or two to make that adjustment (if your kart is clean Dennis )
when you have it running right it will pull alongside a SONIK, ask Keesling about that
Mike,
I’m not necessarily looking for a ‘silver bullet’ but rather something to help me with the carb tuning. As much as I love racing, I like to drive, not necessarily work on the kart. Of course, I have to do this, but I like to keep the ‘fiddling’ to a minimum. If I can whip out the maxjet, and jet the kart to within a jet of what I need, plus give me a good needle clip position, that would be a huge help for me.
I actually did some carb tuning today at IMI and got it close to perfect (lots of plug chops). Jay Jacobellis had his new sonik motor out there and the Rotax pulls pretty damn close to the Sonik on the straights. I’m not sure how his kart was running, but he pulled very little, if any, on the back straight. I was impressed with how the Rotax held its own aganist the Sonik, which is supposed to have such a killer top end.

SpencerYour more than welcome to come over and use our MaxJet system, as others do at every race we are at. Just look for the No Limit Trailer around pit spot 46. We were the ones next to you at CSC #1 that tried to help you out that day. BTW, what was the final outcome with the motor.
As for the MaxJet, it gives you a starting point and once you figure out where your motor is, it can do wonders. We have two motors, and they are both different in jetting. But once you know the differences MaxJet seems to work well for us. I wouldn’t leave home without it.
Duff & Dane
I appreciate the offer Dennis. Of course, I remember you from CSC#1, you guys were a big help in trying to get the kart back on the track.
I’ll definetly head over to your pit Sunday morning.
