There was some pretty good articles on sponsors at http://www.ekartingnews.com a few months ago. I found this one about page 50 in the general discussion section.
Sponsors in karting are hard to find so hang onto what you can. Return the favor to them whenever possible, and remember you represent what they are about.
Good luck.

Mark, I run in the Road Race division, and have had the same sponsors for over 5 years, with the exception of 2 companies that I added later. I run in Super Stock and Yamaha Sit Up with a full bodywork Emmick Chassis.
1.I was wondering how many people might have sponsors?
*I Do Thank Goodness! They really help me with my racing program.
2.Who is sponsoring you?
* My sponsor list includes:Pico Pica Hot Sauce, Harpur’s Marine, RLV, Burris, O&H, Hegar 4, Stewart Racing Products, Emmick, K&P Mfg/ Bridgestone, Madco Mfg, Azusa Engineering, Heroux Enterprises, BCR, Juanita’s Foods, Kustom Kart Kovers, Kickglass Custom Fiberglass, Woltjer Racing Engines, Toms Die Cutting, Douglas Wheel, Madco, Kart-O- Rama, Ribtect and Standard Lithograph
3.Is it per race or per season?
* Each season I plan which races I will be attending and have the sponsor send the check directly to the host club or company… then I use the money as I need it. I do not have funds come directly to me. So for me, it is a little of both, per race and per season.
4.Are you getting cash if so how much?
* I receive some monetary support, those funds are distributed to where they will be used.
5.Are you getting equipment?
* Quite a few of my sponsors are product sponsors. I am not greedy, so I think that helps quite a bit. Also, I made sure I promote their products every chance I get. Our team looks for the best equipment for our team and type of racing, and those are the sponsors we have.
6.Where is a good place to look for a sponsor small business or corporations?
*I say look where ever you can. Just be sure you are able to tell them what YOU can do for THEM. And don’t just take their support and run, have a relationship with your sponsors, include them in your efforts and THANK THEM.
Hope to see you at the track
