Post Update on George
A number of us have now spoken with either George or his brother, and the good news is that he is now doing much better. Last week he was found unconscious in his home and transported to Memorial Hospital in the Springs, where he was placed on a respirator in ICU. According to his brother, the doctors have determined that the coma was due to diabetic shock--I'm not sure if George was aware he had diabetes, so it probably caught him by surprise. On Saturday he was reported up, eating breakfast, and conversing with visitors. On Sunday I spoke with on the phone from The Track, as did Chrissy and Gunter, and he sounded tired but very alert and sharp--he was very interested in how everyone qualified. He said they're still doing follow-up tests, but confirmed the diabetes diagnosis. He thanked everyone for the flowers, messages, and prayers and obviously looks forward to getting back home and to the track.
